I looked at the other horses on the lot where 'Prom Queen' ' is ......
And here we are.
I would love to get these five out with her but I would need help to do so. (Ewwww! But worth asking .)
So......
Here's the skinny.
For all five it is $3775
I've already sent in HALF bail for them leaving $1187.50 to save five lives.
That's sooooo doable.

This horse is currently in the McLean kill pen and is shipping to Slaughter tonight. Someone thought enough of her to write the quintessential teen phrase..
'PROM?' across her with God knows what medium...
And now this is her fate?

'Enough is Enough' has never rung more true.
It saddens me that I feel making this post is even necessary but my indignation and the brevity of the situation won out over that.
.
I am (for the time being ) putting a cap on what we will pay for emaciated,sick ,horribly pitiful horses at auction. (This pains me to even type ,as I have ALWAYS been the 'whatever it takes' girl.)
Now let me tell you WHY.
.
There is a growing ugly trend at the moment of individuals and traders BANKING on rescues paying exorbitant prices for horses in auction in terrible condition and flat out laughing about it when it happens.
The bad part is .....they didn't create THIS problem. I know that everyone loves to hate the kill buyers, but they did not create this particular issue.
Rescues bidding against each other for NO good reason is one huge factor in doing so ,though.
It feels as though rescues working together is becoming a pipe dream more by the day. Outbitting another rescue for fear that they will not properly care for them or knowingly keeping a horse out of a bad place is one thing..
Bidding against each other for personal reasons is an entirely different matter.
'I don't like her face' is NOT a good reason to use these horses to cause an even bigger problem.
(Doesn't the world have enough of those ?)

I've already made this too long, but in a nutshell.....
This is sick ,and it is sad.
Emaciated horses auctioning for THOUSANDS.
Mares and foals toted around to multiple auctions and bringing $2-$7,000 is not only bananas,it is encouraging people capable of bad things to do them more easily and ENABLING it.
This is one game I will not play.
Believe me when I say......right now the word 'rescue' isn't living up to what it should be.
.
This may be putting a Band-Aid on a bullet hole, but I REFUSE to pay people to be horrible and laugh their way to the bank with money that could save many.
.
It's always the horses who pay for human created problems and I'm quite sick of seeing it.
I will always help these horses to the best of my ability, but this sick cycle carousel currently taking place in auctions..
Is a sad situation.
